About the Cemetery

This old cemetery is located in rural McCamish Twp close to the Douglas County line. It is situated on a section line between two farmed sections, well in from the road, and is marked with a little outcropping of trees to the north of the trees that mark the section line that is far enough in it cannot be seen from the road to the west of the cemetery.

Little remains today of this cemetery. Within the copse of trees are two stones, buried within vines and bramble. On the west side of these trees is a clearing with the Broom stone. No other stones can be found today.

Pleasant Valley Cemetery

In the early 1970s, this cemetery was transcribed as part of a project by the Johnson Co. Genealogical Society, and donated to the county. Since many of the stones are now missing, I have added the now missing stones from this transcription, so they also may be remembered.

Photographed and transcribed by Linda K. Lewis, 29 Oct 2005. This is a complete transcription by reading and photographing the gravestones. This transcription has been supplimented with a transcription by Elizabeth Hulse from the early 1970s that includes stones are now missing.
